Data is very important when it comes to training. Not only does it help you improve your performance, it also helps you fine-tune your training plan. When it comes to choosing a sport, the data collected during your sessions can help you improve your performance.
Heart rate measurements are commonly used to inform fitness plans and are also valuable to monitoring the circulatory system and other health factors. They can also provide useful insights into different aspects of health.
Among the various types of chest strap heart rate monitors, they tend to get more accurate readings than traditional wrist or wearable devices. They’re also more remote.
A heart rate monitor is a vital component of keeping track of how hard you’re working out and what energy source you’re using. It can tell you how much fat you’re burning and help you keep working toward a fat-burning zone.
While a heart rate monitor can be commonly used to check your pulse, it can also be very accurate and comfortable to use. These devices are ideal for high-intensity activities such as swimming, running, and biking.
Most of the time, chest straps are the best choice for distance runners due to their ability to provide accurate heart-rate data. They’re also comfortable and can keep track of your heart rate without leaving your wrist or an armband.

The H10 is a smartwatch that can pair with two simultaneous Bluetooth connections. It works seamlessly with both stationary bikes and fitness equipment that use ANT Plus technology. The silicon friction dots help minimize shifting and slippage.
The only downside was that it only has enough onboard memory for a single training session. Also, it lost my data when I forget to sync it to my phone.
Over time, the unit started eating through the batteries faster. It was initially caused by the unit’s design, but I eventually solved it by removing the battery after each use.
I use this for my Concept 2 rowing machine. It works seamlessly with the app for Android and the Concept2 Logbook. It syncs with my phone and records my workouts.
To use this app, you will need to create an account with Polar Beat, and then sync your workouts to it. Its UI is clean and easy to use, and I have no issues with it. However, I would not trust the data it collects due to how it interprets my path.
The accuracy of your heart rate and calories burned ranges from zero to 100. You can also input other data such as your Vo2 max and anaerobic threshold to improve your overall accuracy.

The HRM-Tri’s built-in accelerometer measures cadence and vertical oscillation while you’re running, and when in the water, it sends heart-rate data to your phone later.
The HRM-Tri is incredibly lightweight and has a great comfort level. It’s also got a great water resistance rating. I did wear it to swim, and it didn’t seem to sweat much.
Garmin Fenix 5 Plus is my go-to device for monitoring my heart rate. It works seamlessly even though I’m doing certain exercises while wearing a wrist HRM. Also, just like the other models, it can pick up on your active heart rate even though I’m not moving.
My HRM is used for monitoring all of my activities, so I do a lot of mixed training, such as running, swimming, and weightlifting. It’s also capable of recording all of my data perfectly.
Since I have had it for a few months, I have had to change the HRM battery. It lasted for about 10 hours a week.

Only works with a compatible heart-rate monitoring app. You can also sync it to your existing Android or iOS device to get your data. The CooSpo chest strap also syncs to other devices that are related to your heart-rate.
This chest strap is comfortable and features a built-in battery that’s capable of running for 300 hours. It’s also water and rain-resistant.
Bought this as a test item for $20 on AliExpress, and it took about 3 weeks to get to you. I also ordered it from Amazon, and it’s the exact same unit as well.
I ride Mountain Bike about 4 times a week. This monitor works great with my iPhone and various apps.
Since I own 2, I have had to replace the modules on both of my devices. The only complaint I have is that it has inconsistent readings when I use it. I think that the straps are either worn out or have corroded the sensors.
The battery life seems to be good. It ran down for about 2 weeks after I received it, but I think it was on the shelf for a long time. Usually, I would just change it once in 3 months.
It syncs with Strava and works like a dream.
My name is Mike, and I’m a big guy who used to ride his old college bike to lose some weight. He got this band in order to keep his chest aligned with his bike.
I decided to get one because I wanted a heart-rate monitor that’s over my heart instead of a wrist-mounted device. A friend of mine uses a similar device for her workouts, and she ends up missing data.
Garmin HRM-Run

- Specifically designed for triathletes
- Garmin's smallest and lightest heart rate monitor (HRM)
- Comfortable, easily adjustable strap. Soft rounded edges and covered seams
- Suitable for use when running, cycling, swimming
- Stores and forwards heart rate data to your compatible Garmin fitness device
The HRM-run is a heart-rate monitor that measures six cool running metrics: tempo, vertical oscillation, ground contact time, and foot contact time. It made me feel like a serious runner.
The Garmin HRM-Run has a long battery life, which means it will last for an entire year. For me, and many other casual runners, this strap would last much longer.
Garmin knew that its target audience would appreciate its thin, lightweight and comfortable design.
The HR readings were correct and proper. It works seamlessly with the Apple Watch through Bluetooth and requires no sweat to get the readings. However, if you don’t have a Garmin device, it can only be used to check the heart rate after a workout.
It took a little bit of fiddling to get the strap to fit my chest. The material was a little bit stiff at the place where the buckle fits. Overall, it was a good purchase.
